It is very cold outside. We have neighbors throughout the city that don’t have a warm place to stay, but we can help.
Southside Community Center operates the local homeless shelter and has been working to provide motel vouchers to people in need. Hays County just gave Southside a COVID emergency exemption to open up their space as a warming shelter. Southside is providing warm coffee, hot soup all day, and a free dinner everyday at 5pm for anyone in need. They’ve given out about 45 motel vouchers, but some of those will expire Sunday night so those need to be renewed. Additionally Southside is giving some vouchers to the City so first responders can get people to shelter as needed.
